Connor just turned 6 (!) so you know me, i HAD to throw a themed birthday party! ;)
When they are somewhat older and are actually into certain things, i try to pick a theme based on what their interests are at the time. Connor loves all things art. He really does. In the morning you will find him in his room coloring or cutting or creating something on his little table. I can’t express how much this kid loves crafts. And he's ridiculously creative for his age. Although i could be a little biased ;)
Anyway, i threw him art themed party and invited a handful of his close friends.
Here are the details:
Decorations:
I bought a large roll of white paper from Staples for 7 something dollars and i used that as a backdrop and covered it with some of his recent art-
I also used the paper as a tablecloth and put a glass bowl with crayons in the middle of the table for the kids all to draw on as they got there-
Activities:
The first thing i had the kids do was color some paper car kits i found on clearance at Joann’s for .50-
Then after they played hockey for a bit in the living room ;) i had them each paint their own canvases, also from Joann’s-
(Connor made Spiderman)
Food:
All my ideas for pretty much the entire party were from Pinterest. I had alot of fun with the food.
Paintbrush krispie treats- (unlike the recipe, i just bought the already made ones and pressed the top together to make it rounded)-
Marshmallow Paint Cans- (i just dipped the ends in water instead of using corn syrup)
Cake Pops- (I used strawberry cake mix with cream cheese frosting for the cake and milk chocolate to dip it in. And in case your wondering if the kids are all going to get lead poisoning, i stuck a tiny bit of plastic wrap on the ends of the pencils)
Favors:
I saw this idea and since i always make homemade play-doh i knew it’d be the perfect favor :) I made my own tags from the computer and scrapbook paper-
He got some great gifts!
He is already talking about his theme ideas for next year ;)
My older daughter had an art party for her 3rd birthday; what a fun time. Yours looks like a blast too. (Coming over from Tip Junkie)
ReplyDeleteWhen you celebrate art themed birthday parties, you also help to broaden your kid's imagination in the process! This is truly a fun and productive way to celebrate the occasion!
ReplyDeleteI can't see the marshmellow paint can recipe on the other blog? Did you simply dip the marshmellows in cold or hot water and then sprinkles?
ReplyDeleteYes Erin. I dipped one end in a bowl of water (i think it was cold) and then dipped the wet part into another bowl with sprinkles.
