We recently rowed Another Celebrated Dancing Bear.

I hate to say this about any book, but this story wasn't that interesting to Brianna or I. Im not exactly sure why. Maybe it was our moods that week or something, haha. But it was just an ok story. And to be honest i felt the need to keep 'correcting' part of the story. One of the bears becomes jealous because his best friend is a dancing bear in a circus. He complains about the job he has at the hospital helping other animals. He doesnt like the way some of the animals at the hospital treat him. In the end his dreams come true and he gets to become a dancing bear as well. I am all for having dreams but for some reason i kept finding myself explaining to Brianna that we need to be content with where we are. God puts us places and sometimes we wont like it. But we are there for a reason and need to learn to be happy with where God has us. Maybe i felt this way because of things God has been teaching me in my life. Im not sure. But either way, i hope she learned a little lesson on following God's will, not ours, and being content with our circumstances. There was still some very sweet lessons from this book though...
Our favorite was our Social Studies lesson on hospitality!
The lesson plan suggested inviting a friend over and treating them kindly by doing things such as take their coat for them, offer them a snack (which i had brianna pick out at the store beforehand), pour them a drink, listen to them. So we invited Brianna's sweet friend Delaney over for a playdate and she did all those things. Well except take her coat because we had a fluke a 60 degree day, ha! Here is a picture of them eating their snack :)
Language:
She acted out the following action words: applauded, bowed, beamed, drew near, giggling, chattering, mopping his brow, kicking (like the dance step) and leaping. She was a giggly mess for this activity, haha.
Art:
We talked about the different architecture in the book. There is craft in the back of the book but we never got to it.
Math:
Boris' first lessons were on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:00-8. We talked a little about clocks and telling time.
Science:
In the story Max sets the samavor to boil so i was going to discuss freezing and boiling points with Bri and try to do some sort of experiment with this but we never got to it because i had a little sick boy to take care of and i just never went back and did it.
Bible:
We read about David and Jonathan in her children's Bible and talked about having love for our friends.
Sorry this wasn't a very 'exciting' FIAR post. But everyone has those off weeks...right?? ;)

Acting out words sounds like a whole lot of fun!
